Terms of Service

Effective date: October 28, 2026 · Last updated: October 28, 2026

The short version: You buy Coffer once for $29 and keep it. There is no subscription. Your articles belong to you and can be exported at any time. Apple handles payments and refunds. Don't use the app to break the law or to redistribute other people's copyrighted work.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Coffer application and the website at coffer.app (the "Service"), provided by an independent developer ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Coffer, you agree to these Terms.

Coffer is distributed through the Apple App Store. Accordingly, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple EULA") also applies and controls where it conflicts with these Terms on matters of licensing and App Store usage. Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide support for the Service.

2. License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Coffer on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store rules. The license is for your personal use; it is not a sale of the software itself.

3. Price, payment and refunds

4. Your content

You retain all rights to the articles you save and the reading data you create. We claim no ownership over your library. Because your library is stored on your device and in your own iCloud account, we cannot access it.

Articles and images you save may be protected by copyright owned by others. Coffer is a personal reading tool: you are responsible for ensuring that your use of saved content (including any sharing or republishing) complies with applicable copyright law and the terms of the websites you save from. Coffer does not grant you any rights to third-party content.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. Our intellectual property

The app, its design, trademarks, and original code are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding. Open-source components included in the app are governed by their respective licenses.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Coffer working and to ship improvements. However, we do not guarantee that the app will be available on the App Store indefinitely, or that every feature will remain unchanged.

Your data is designed to outlive the app. Because your library is stored on your device and in your own iCloud account — and can be exported to Markdown, HTML or PDF — you retain access to your reading even if development of Coffer were to stop. This is a commitment about data portability, not a guarantee about the availability of the App Store listing or future updates.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that article parsing will succeed on every website, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid for it (US$29). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms. Because your data is local, termination does not delete your library; you can continue to read and export it.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your Jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date on this page. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
